Meet Ken

Just like so many others with the love of the beaches and agriculture of Riverhead Town, Ken and his wife, Debra, moved to Wading River 30 years ago just after getting married. Both their children attended Riverhead School District with Kenny graduating in 2018 and Cameron graduating in 2022.

Ken began his career working as a Licensed Funeral Director and eventually was able to purchase his own funeral home in Southampton. A few years later, he purchased the Alexander-Rothwell Funeral Home in Wading River, allowing him to serve the residents in his hometown.

As a funeral director, Ken has been there to assist families through some of the most tragic disasters of modern times. Whether it is the incomprehensible loss of a child, or the impact of a national tragedy, he has found the time to bring solace to others. Ken worked closely with families of victims of the TWA Flight 800 disaster. He learned a great deal during the aftermath of this crash and the experience enabled him to assist other families following the horrific loss resulting from the World Trade Center tragedy on 9/11. His dedication and tireless efforts earned him special recognition from the Governor of New York and the Nassau/Suffolk Funeral Directors Association.

In his recreational time, Ken enjoys his Harley motorcycle, the family log cabin in the mountains, ATV riding, the rifle range, skiing, ice hockey and hiking. His most successful triumph was to carry a flag given to him from ground zero to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa, one of the seven summits of the world.

As a volunteer firefighter for over 20 years, Ken has served as a Captain in the Fire Service and is currently an active member of the Wading River Fire Department, Past Exulted Ruler of the BPOE and Financial Secretary to the Knights of Columbus. Over the years, his business has grown to become the largest funeral provider on the East End of Long Island with four funeral homes and a monument company. Now with a larger funeral home staff, Ken is able to transition to public service as a Town Councilman. In November of 2021, Ken was elected by a large margin and was the top vote getter in the Riverhead Town Council election. He has now been given a great opportunity to give back to the town in which he has so grown to love. He is now in his first 4 year term as an Elected Town Councilman.
